Washington Seminar Overview

National Association of Blind Students Board

It is once again time for the National Federation of the Blind to carry our message of equality and opportunity to Capitol Hill. Our annual Washington Seminar is not only a great opportunity for blind students to help to educate our legislators on issues of importance to the blind, but also an excellent opportunity to learn about our government, see how grass roots advocacy can influence public policy, and take in all that Washington DC has to offer.

While in Washington, NABS has a couple of exciting events that you will want to mark in your calendar, set a reminder for on your IPhone, etc. The first event of which is our annual winter meeting which will be held on Monday January 26 and is sure to be full of numerous educational and inspirational speakers who you won’t want to miss. Said meeting will also include an update from all State Student Divisions present and an open dialog about how NABS can best serve you. Registration for the meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m with the meeting starting at 9:00 a.m.

Following the Great Gathering In, we will have our annual NABS Café and live auction. The Cafe will begin at 8 p.m and go through 11 p.m. We will have light orderves, a cash bar and some fantastic items that you’ll definitely want to throw in a couple of bids on. As if that weren’t enough, we will have live entertainment!
