Happy New Year NABS! I’m Peter Donahue and one of the developers of the new National Association of Blind Students Web Portal also known as “NABS University.” I feel honored and proud to have been asked to create your Web presence, something that has been a long time coming. It’s finally here at last! Have you taken the tour? We created one of the most cutting-edge, innovative, and interactive Web sites for NABS. As far as I know no other NFB affiliate has anything like it. The NFB is all about raising expectations of the blind including blind students. Although I’m not a traditional student I consider myself a non-traditional student thanks to the National Association of Blind Students and the National Federation of the Blind. My wife Mary and I have been members for many years and look forward to furthering the federation’s goal of the full integration of the blind in to society on a basis of equality with the sighted. Building your Web Site presented challenges and opportunities I hadn’t delt with in the past. Thanks to you my skills as a webmaster have been increased to permit me to take on more complex projects and to increase my employment possibilities. This project will be one for the resume. This is what the National Federation of the Blind and is all about. My partner Joe Orozco warmly welcome you to your new home in cyberspace. It will serve NABS for years to come. All the best from us for a wonderful 2009 and increased visibility of our movement. We now have one more window to the World and another vehicle for spreading our message of hope and for a future full of opportunity for blind students. The NABS Web Development Team.
